| Bernd obtained his Ph.D. degree in physics from University of Hamburg, Germany in 1998. He worked as a CERN Fellow with OPAL experiment at LEP during 1998-2000. He became a tenured research staff at DESY, Germany in 2001. During 2002-2003 he worked on RHIC-STAR experiment as Goldhaber Fellow in Brookhaven National Laboratory. He worked as assistant professor at department of physics at MIT from 2004 to 2009 and then became an associate professor in 2009 at MIT. Since 2012, he has been working in Temple University as a tenured associate professor in department of physics. He is currently a member of STAR experiment. He once served as co-convener of spin working group in STAR and deputy spokesperson of STAR experiment.
